Abstract
878,453. Printing-machines. MILLER PRINTING MACHINERY CO. Feb. 16, 1960 [Feb. 16, 1959], No. 5431/60. Class 100(2) [Also in Group XXXIV] Cylinder trips.-In an adjustable mounting, a rotatable member 22 is mounted in an intermediate annular member 16 which is mounted in a sleeve 6, the latter being rotatably adjustable in a frame 2. Series of rollers, or balls, are located between the rotatable member 22 and the member 16 and between the member 16 and the sleeve 6. Races 10, 20 and spacers 12, 12a are provided and are held in position by a nut 23 engaging a screw-threaded portion 24 of the member 22 and by a ring 13 attached by screws 14 to the sleeve 6. The annular member 16 has a concentric outer periphery 17 and an eccentric inner periphery 18 so that by angularly displacing the member 16 through an angle A, Fig. 1, the rotatable member 22 can be displaced axially relatively to rollers 28, 29. The sleeve 6 has circular inner and outer peripheries which are eccentric to each other and has an integral arm 30 which facilitates angular adjustment of the sleeve relatively to the frame 2. In an embodiment an offset printing press has the blanket cylinder 22 moved in and out of engagement with the plate cylinder 28 and the impression cylinder 29 by means of a lever 25 fastened by screws 26 to the member 16 and connected at 27 to the press mechanism so as to operate in timed relationship to the cylinders. The operative position of the cylinder 22 relatively to the cylinders 28, 29 is adjusted by angularly displacing the sleeve 6 by means of the arm 30.
