Abstract
693,025. Printing-machines. STRACHAN & HENSHAW, Ltd. March 3, 1952 [March 20, 1951], No. 6659/51. Class 100(ii) [Also in Group XXXIV] Tripping arrangements.-Means for adjusting the position of a shaft 14 carrying a roll 28 of a printing press, e.g. an inking roll, and indicating the extent of adjustment comprise a circular housing 12 adapted to be rotatably mounted in a fixed support 11, the shaft 14 being disposed eccentrically in the housing 12, a worm 16 and worm wheel 15 for angularly moving the housing 12 in' the support 11, and an indicator device 30 rigidly mounted in relation to the fixed support 11 and co-operating with an arcuate surface 37 rigidly mounted in relation to the housing 12 and concentric with the shaft 14. The worm wheel 15 is bolted to the housing 12 and is surrounded by a clamping member 20 secured to the support 11. The housing 12 and worm wheel 15 may thus be locked in position by tightening the clamping member 20 by means of a screw 26 actuated by a handle 27. The casing of the member 20 also carries the worm 16 rotation of which is effected by means of a hand-wheel 18. The dial indicator 30 is rigidly attached to the member 20, and has a spring pressed rod 33 projecting radially from the indicator, and a freely rotatable ball 34 at the end of the rod 33 co-operates with the arcuate surface 37 provided within the worm wheel 15. The extent of rotation of the housing 12 within the support 11. is indicated by movement of a pointer 35 around a dial 36.
