Abstract

1,201,329. Blocking press. HEIDELBERGER DRUCKMASCHINEN A.G. 8 Dec., 1967 [20 May, 1967], No. 55916/67. Heading B6J. A platen printing press adapted to print from colour foil comprises an inking roller frame shaft 13, an oscillatable rocker 15 freely mounted on the shaft, a pair of inking roller arms 14, 14<SP>1</SP> respectively fixed at both ends of the shaft carrying inking rollers 32, the arms being disconnectable from the rocker, a forme supporting plate 4 incorporating heating means, feeding means for drawing a colour foil 7 through the press, a drive mechanism for the feeding means connected to the rocker and a ram 5 fastened to the plate 4. Rocker 15 is linked via arm 17 and lever 19 to journal 24 of foil take-up roller 10. Roller 25 which is in engagement with a cam 26 loosely mounted on journal 24 is mounted on a profiled roller 22. Adjustment of cam 26 about journal 24 regulates the amount of foil take-up in that roller 22 remains disengaged over a greater or lesser distance during pivotal movement of lever 19 and then engages roller 23 to rotate roller 10. Spring 30 biases roller 22 towards engagement with roller 23. When the press is to be used for blocking the inking rollers 32 are disengaged by unlinking arm 14 from rocker 15. Flywheel pinion 35 rotates drive wheel 33 to energize the mechanism.
