878,392. Heating arrangements in textile twisting machines. BEMBERG S. p. A. June 18, 1959 [June 28, 1958], No. 20917/59. Classes 120(2) and 120(3) Yarns, e.g. polyamides or derivatives of polyacrylic acid, are heated to a temperature of 50‹- 120‹C. over a zone of less than 1 cm. between feeding and receiving members of a twisting device. So that twisting takes place exclusively in the heating region in which the plasticity of the yarns is raised. The yarns 5 pass from a supply package 2 to a take-up package 3, one of the packages being rotated to twist the yarns The yarns are heated by infra-red radiation or by a disc 6 which may be heated electrically, by direct or indirect heating of resistors or by induction, or may be hollow and heated by circulation of hot gas or liquid, The yarns may contact the disc or may be guided through it so that heating is by radiation and convection. The electrical heating circuits of some or all of the twisting devices of a machine may be connected in series. A cooling means may be positioned after the heating means in the path of the yarns.
