Abstract

842,463. Finishing yarns; twist-tubes; heating arrangements in textile spinning &c. machines. SCRAGG & SONS Ltd., E. July 23, 1958 [June 19, 1957], No. 19247/57. Classes 120(2) and 120(3). A method of producing a composite textile thread comprising at least two yarns, is characterised in that the said yarns are drawn from suitable packages, passed simultaneously in opposite directions through a single false twisting device so that they receive opposite twists, and are thereafter combined to form a single thread. As shown a machine for producing two yarns, which are to be combined thereafter to form a composite textile thread, comprises supports for a pair of yarn packages 3, 4, means 6, 7 for withdrawing yarn at a predetermined rate from the packages, a device 10 such as an electrically heated curved plate, having channels in its face to receive the individual yarns, for simultaneously and continually setting twist in the yarns, a single false twisting device 15-18, which may be as disclosed in Specification 821,460, through which the two yarns continuously pass in opposite directions, means 21, 22, for drawing the false twisted yarns through the false twisting device at a predetermined rate and means 23 for collecting the said yarns.
