Abstract
878,892. Finishing yarns. T. M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Sept. 7, 1959 [Sept. 9, 1958], No. 28935/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 120(3) A yarn which has been bulked e.g. by a falsetwist process, is continuously fed through a relaxing zone, as may be constituted by two pairs of nip rollers rotating at different peripheral speeds, so that component fibres or filaments are able to assume a coiled or looped formation, thence direct to a twisting zone, as may be constituted by a ring-twisting unit, so that it is subjected at the instant of its delivery from the relaxing zone e.g. at the nip of the second pair of rollers, to a twisting operation which binds the coils or loops so that they are retained when the yarn is subsequently tensioned. The yarn may be stretched between the bulking and relaxing stages. The final twist may be similar or opposite to the false-twist; yarns having the latter twist may be intertwisted in the same direction as the false-twist to form a balanced yarn.
