Abstract

878,384. Lubricating bearings. ASSOCIAATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 26, 1960 [May 28, 1959], No. 18235/59. Class 12 (1). In a ball or roller bearing comprising a housing 13 and an end cap 3, oil is supplied to the bearing from a sump 5 through apertures 7, 8 to an oil bath 2, and thence through the bearing back to the sump via a chamfered face 11, the oil being prevented from flowing direct to the bearing by a weir 14 formed on the end cap. In a modification the weir is formed on a separate ring, and the apertures 7, 8 are included in a tube screwed into the ring or housing.
