Abstract
877,581. Starting and stopping fuel injection engines. SATZGER, E. April 1, 1958 [May 9, 1957], No. 10382/58. Classes 7(3) and 7(5). An injection pump control rod 17, operated by a centrifugal governor 3, is moved positively to cut-off position by a manually operated lever 26 which becomes coupled to the control rod by a spring-loaded latch 28; the rod 17 is automatically moved by the lever 26 back to the starting delivery position, defined by a stop 21, on release of the lever 26 which automatically uncouples itself from the rod 17. The lever 26 is connected to a spring-loaded rod 23 pivoted to a lever 34 actuated through a cam 32 by a stopping lever 31. Movement of lever 31 to the stop position 311 rotates lever 26 anticlockwise, Fig. 1, causing rotation of lever 15 and movement of rod 17 to the cut-off position determined by stop 22, in which position the latch 28 engages in a notch 29 to couple the levers 26, 15, together. On release of lever 31 the spring 35, Fig. 2, moves lever 26 clockwise so that the lever 15 coupled thereto, and hence control rod 17, is moved back to the starting delivery position against the stop 21, the spring 35 being of sufficient strength to move the lever 26 beyond this position to force the latch 28 out of notch 29 and uncouple the levers 26, 15.
