876,832. Gymnastic apparatus. SPENCER, HEATH & GEORGE Ltd., BATES, H. W., and HENMAN, T. H. J. April 25, 1960 [July 6, 1959], No. 23175/59. Class 132(1). [Also in Group XXV] Engaging one side of a support 13 are spaced first and second jaw members 15, 16 between which slides a third jaw member 17 which engages the opposite side of the support 13, a gate member 18 hinged to one of the members 15, 16 having a projection 20 which engages a hole in the support 13 to locate the assembly thereon where it is held by means acting on the members 17 and 18 to lock the assembly in position. Jaws 15, 16 are connected by a bracket 25 and a cross piece 26. The latter has a circular stud 27 which engages and is held by plate 31 and nut 32 in an axial socket 28 formed in a boss 29 projecting from an end fitting 14 secured to a gymnastic beam 11. The other end of beam 11 is similarly mounted. Stud 27 has a single transverse hole which can register in two positions with holes in boss 29 and is held by locking pin 30 in one of these positions. A pivoted safety catch 33 engages a slot in member 35 to prevent gate member 18 from moving. Boss 29 may have two sets of holes at right angles so that the beam can be fixed broad side up.
