Abstract
841,631. Clamps; bolts. BELLING & LEE Ltd. March 15, 1957, No. 8562/57. Classes 44 and 89(1). A clamping-device for attachment to a first-member comprises a U-bolt 1 having its two limbs 3, 4, spaced apart so as to be capable of straddling the firstmember, and a saddle 17, 18, reciprocable on the limbs and capable of being urged into gripping- engagement with the first-member, the two limbs of the U-bolt being integral with a flattened curved-part 9, the limbs and curved-part being made from a shaped and processed singlelength of material, and the curved-part 9 being capable, where the saddle is urged into gripping- engagement with the first-member, of assuming the contour of a substantial-part of the exterior cross-sectional-shape of the first-member. In the arrangement shown, the upper-part 18 of the saddle is secured over the lower-part 17 by a bolt 29, to thereby secure between the parts 17, 18, a second-member, which may be an aerialrod, at an angle to a mast which constitutes the first-member. In another-arrangement, Fig. 6, (not shown), the lower-part of the saddle is slotted for the limbs of the U-bolt, which latter also pass through holes provided in the secondmember.
