Abstract

888,178. Internal clamps; screw-sockets. STADIUM Ltd. Nov. 4, 1958 [Nov. 4, 1957]. No. 34353/57. Classes 44 and 89(1). An attachment comprises a body 4, a bolt 1 passing through a clearance hole 3 in the body and' into a nut 8 at a distance from the body, a split sleeve 9 surrounding the nut and abutting against the body and having means preventing relative rotation of the body, sleeve and: nut, there being internal projections 10 on the sleeve between the body and nut such that when the nut is drawn towards the body by turning the bolt the nut causes the expansion of the sleeve. The attachment is intended for mounting a mirror onthe handle-bars of a cycle, the mirror being carried by an arm which can be set at a number. of positions; the mirror is on a swivel head so that its angle can be adjusted. The projections on the sleeve are formed by partspherical indentations. in the sleeve the depth of the indentations increasing in the direction of the nut to the body. The means for preventing relative rotation of thebody, sleeve and nut consist of a lug 17 on the body which fits into a slot (not shown) in the sleeve and lugs 15, 16 on the nut' which engage the edges of the split in the sleeve. To enable the attachment to fit handle-bars or other tubular members which are considerably larger in diameter than the' split sleeve 9 a second split sleeve 20 can surround the first sleeve.
