Abstract

855,251. Rear-viewing mirrors for vehicles. BATTERSBY, D. J. Aug. 28, 1959 [Oct. 2, 1958], No. 31443/58. Class 103(2). [Also in Group XXV] A vehicle rear-view mirror comprises a mirror head 26 carried by a pillar 16 mounted for angular movement on an elongated base 10 secured to the vehicle wing by screwed studs 12, the pillar having a stem 14 passing through a bore in the base and resiliently loaded by Belleville washers 15, located in a recess 13 in the base. The lower end of the pillar is provided with a ring of radial serrations 21 which engage with complementary serrations on a flat seating 11 of the base. The head 26 is adjustably mounted on a sleeve 23 secured by a screw 24 to the pillar, in either one of two positions, 180 degrees apart. The pillar may also be mounted on the base in a position 180 degrees apart from that shown. Specification 848,705 is referred to.
