Abstract

1529572 Telescopic struts CHRYSLER UNITED KINGDOM Ltd 22 June 1976 [9 July 1975] 28948/75 Heading E2F A telescopic strut, in particular a gas spring strut, having inner 17 and outer 16 members is provided with a latch device in the form of an apertured member 20 through which the strut extends and which is secured against axial movement on member 17; larger 24 and smaller 25 portions of the member 20 being selectively brought into register with the members to allow the passage of either both members or only the inner member 17. As shown the member 20 is plastics and is secured to a U-section arm 18 pivoted to the member 17 so that when the strut is extended the arm falls under its own weight to bring the smaller aperture portion into register and prevent movement down of the member 16. The latch member 20 can be integral with the arm 18 and be plastics coated or an apertured end of the arm could have a plastics insert apertured as described. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1415257.
