Abstract

880,660. Nozzles for sand filters. SULZER FRERES S. A. Jan. 28, 1960 [Jan. 29, 1959], No. 3107/60. Class 46. [Also in Group XXV] A fastening device for a nozzle 1 for a water treatment plant comprises a bush 4 for fastening the nozzle in an opening in a baseplate 2 and having a collar 5 at its upper end, and at its lower end at least one projecting lug 6, which after insertion of the bush into the opening projects beyond the periphery of the opening on the underside of the base-plate and prevents axial displacement of the bush, and a locking device which prevents turning of the bush. As shown, recesses 7 are provided in the periphery of the opening to allow the lugs 6 to pass, after which the bush is turned through 90 degrees to allow a locking piece 9 to be inserted into one of the recesses 7 and into a notch 8 in the bush. The nozzle which is screwed into the bush prevents the locking piece from moving out of the recess. In another arrangement, Figs. 3-5 (not shown), the bush is of resilient material, is slit longitudinally, and includes a projection on its outer wall, which constitutes the locking device. In a modification, the collar extends for only a part of the periphery of the bush and is extended to form the projection. Also the collar is let into the surface of the base-plate and a washer is interposed between the latter and the nozzle. When a soft resilient material is used, the slit or slits in the bush may be dispensed with.
