Abstract
Improvements in telescopic struts particularly used to open or lift parts of the body of motor vehicles, of the type that comprise a first and a second telescopically connected organs whereby the first organ can extend or fall back with respect to the second organ, and a device for retainer to hold the first organ in an extended position with respect to the second organ, characterized in that the retainer device has an opening through which the strut extends, the opening having a first larger part through which the first and second organs, and a second minor part through which the second organ can pass, and means provided for mounting the detent device so that it does not have longitudinal movement along the second organ in a position in which it is desired to keep the first organ extended, but allowing the lateral displacement of the dis positive with respect to the organs, whereby the first organ can be held extended or released by movement of the detent device to bring the smaller or larger parts of the opening into coincidence with the first organ, respectively.
