Abstract

876,148. Mine shoots. GEWERKSCHAFT REUSS. Dec. 13, 1957 [Dec. 14, 1956], No. 38828/57. Class 78 (1). Mine waste in hopper 22 is discharged therefrom into pipe line 20 through air lock 21 so that the fall of waste is braked pneumatically, its discharge from bunker 25 being by means of conveyer belt 27. The two parts of the pipe line are connected at 50 such that the connection is air-tight whilst permitting relative axial movement. The material may be fed into the pipe line via a spiral shoot, and the air-lock may be at the bottom of the pipe line. Pipe connection (Fig. 6).-The two pipes 34, 35 are provided with a connecting sleeve 38 which compresses packing material, so that the two pipes may move relatively although no air can escape. Safety device (Fig. 7).-The two pipes 1, 2 are connected by an annular housing 100 made of two semi-circular parts 44, 45 tightened around the pipes by screws 48 to form an airtight joint with the pipes. The housing 100 is provided with a pivoted door 51 closed by springs 53 so that under excessive air-pressure the door opens to vent the pipe line.
