Abstract

875,653. Packages. BOWATER RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. March 15, 1960 [March 17, 1959], No. 9263/59. Classes 18 and 94(1). A carton of sheet material, e.g. cardboard, comprises a base and upstanding side and end walls, each end wall having an inwardly extending flap 6, each side wall having an inwardly extending closure flap 8 and each closure flap having a down-turned terminal portion 11, the arrangement being such that the closure flaps 8 provide a lid and the terminal portions 11 are juxtaposed to provide a partition in the carton, the flaps 6 and 8 having interlocking formations 151, 14. The end walls are connected to the side walls by corner pieces 15 which fold in about lines 16 and are trapped between the sides and the articles 19, e.g. biscuits, contained in the carton. A tab 18 is cut in one of the portions 11 and the carton is opened by pulling the tab.
