874,857. Bearings. DWYER, R. July 13, 1959, No. 23962/59. Class 12 (1). A spherical bearing comprises an annular outer member in two parts 16, 18, each having a circumferential extent exceeding a semi-circle, the member 16 being formed with grooves 34 into which fit corresponding tongues 42 on the member 18, and the outer member having a spherically-curved internally concave annular surface 26 in which an inner ball member 14, having a spherically curved convex surface 58, is seated and locks the two parts 16, 18 together when it is located in the plane in which the bearing normally operates. For assembly and disassembly, the ball member 14 is turned through 90 degrees about an axis perpendicular to the plane of separation of the outer parts 16, 18.
