Abstract

874,645. Regulating liquid levels. TECHNE (CAMBRIDGE) Ltd. Feb. 9, 1960 [March 17, 1959], No. 9255/59. Class 123(1) [Also in Group XVII] An aspirator-type liquid pump unit 1, for maintaining a constant liquid level, e.g. in a laboratory vessel 3 to which it can be fitted by a clamp 2, contains an injection nozzle 4 which is located in a branch connection 6 adapted to be connected to a source of liquid pressure, e.g. a water tap, and which in operation sucks up water through a branch connection 8 fitted with a flexible hose 12 extending into the vessel with its lower end defining the desired liquid level. Trickle feed for topping up is provided through the outlet nozzle 11 of a passage 13 which communicates, through a restriction, with the branch connection 6, the nozzle 4 discharging into a passage 14 leading to a drain. The unit, which consists of two united halves, carries a removable cap 18 which, when it is desired to empty the vessel, is screwed over the end of the nozzle 11, the hose 12 being replaced by one which reaches to the bottom of the vessel.
