Abstract

958,150. Watering plants. MACPENNYS MIST PROPAGATION Ltd. March 5, 1963 [Dec. 7, 1961], No. 43786/61. Heading A1E. [Also in Divisions B2 and G3] An apparatus for applying water or liquid manure &c. to crops, plants or seeds comprises a tank 30 adapted to receive water from a main pipe 15 and a feed pipe 32, a valve 33 arranged to selectively control the flow of water through the pipe 32, a spindle 41 provided with a plunger arranged to compress a pad, Fig. 2 (not shown) to vary the rate of flow through an outlet pipe 44, a syphon tube 45 which discharges water when it reaches a sufficient level in the tank into an irrigation pipeline 50 provided with a number of orifices or nozzles 51. The spindle 41 and the syphon tube 45 are both vertically adjustable. Any number of pipelines 50 may be provided, the nozzles 51 may be provided with valves, and may form a mist or spray over the plants &c. The apparatus may be used in association with a further apparatus for periodically watering plants &c., the arrangement being such that the syphon tube will not operate until the further apparatus has operated a desired number of times.
