Abstract

Classes 69 (3) and 135 A portable piping for soil irrigation comprises porous means for conveying liquid from the inside to the outside of the piping, and the whole piping is constructed or treated to render it resistant to chemical action and to maintain the porosity substantially constant. The piping may be woven of plastic-impregnated threads or of glass-fibre yarn having portions with widerwoven spacing for conveying the liquid, as shown in Fig. 1, or it may be of natural or synthetic rubber with incisions along its length, or capillary members passing through its walls. A number of lengths of piping of different porosities may be connected to form a system with appropriate rates of flow for various crops. Fig. 3 shows a safety member comprising a disc 10 of rubber or similar material held between washers 11 and 12 at the end of the coupling 9 by a screw cap 13. Specification 639,852 is referred to.
