Abstract

874,595. Reciprocating pumps. HILL, S. D. March 7, 1960 [March 7, 1959], No. 7960/59. Class 102(1). Liquid dispensing apparatus, comprises a drum 1, Fig. 1, over which completely fits a cover 6 having an upstanding portion 8 through which horizontally extends a pump 16, Fig. 3, having a piston 28 formed with a pair of ports 29 controlled by a spring-loaded plate valve 30. The piston-rod 23 extending through a gland 22 is manually-actuated by a lever 51 pivoted to the cover below the piston-rod through a link 47 and cranked over the cover to terminate in a handgrip 54. A suction tube fitted at its bottom with a suction valve (not shown) extends through a mouthpiece 21 of the drum and the pump discharges through a loose-ball valve 42 into a flexible hose 46, connected at its end to a nozzle 58, Fig. 4, fitted with a filter 65 and an anti-drip valve 60. When not in use the hose 46 may be coiled around the drum and the nozzle 58 retained by its spout 59 in a socket 70 secured to the cover 7 by an adapter 71. To enable the pump to be primed a short length of tube 77 surrounding the suction tube 20 is connected. by a short length of hose 75 to the adaptor which is formed with a bore 72. Tie -bolts 9 and wing-nuts 13 hold the cover on the drum and also secure the drum on a base 3 fitted with a pair of wheels 4 and a castering wheels 5.
