Abstract

873,418. Cleaning devices for belt conveyers. BARRE, M. Dec. 14, 1959, No. 42474/59. Class 78 (1). A conveyer belt c is cleaned by a scraper 1 having a bevelled portion 1a on which the belt rests and a hardened portion 7 forming a cutting edge for removing material from the belt. A feeler member 2 is attached to the scraper and has laterally-spaced portions 3 disposed with its end 3a in close proximity to the belt in advance of the cutting edge so that the belt is deflected away from the scraper if an obstruction or tear in the belt is approaching. The scraper and feeler assembly is mounted on a shaft 5 journalled in brackets 6a on a support 6. The support 6 is carried by a bar 9 suspended by arms 8 from a fixed member A. A tension-spring 10 acts on the bar 9 to press the scraper into contact with the belt. In an alternative construction, Fig. 3, the scraper 1 is carried by a support 11 pivoted at 12 to a pair of arms 14 acted on by a tension-spring 18, the arm 14 being pivoted at 16 to a fixed support 17. A series of laterallyspaced feeler portions 3 are mounted on the leading end of support 11 and a heel or second scraper 15 is mounted on the trailing end of support 11.
