Abstract

885,556. Endless belt conveyers. UNIVERSAL CORRUGATED BOX MACHINERY CORPORATION. April 6, 1960, No. 12251/60. Class 78 (1). Folded box blanks are fed from a folding machine 53 by means of endless belts 52, 55 on to an endless belt 25 having a conveying run at right angles to the conveying runs of belts 52, 55, the box blanks being retained on the upper conveying run of belt 25 by means of suction applied through perforations in the belt. The perforated endless belt 25 is supported on rollers 22, 23 and on a perforated sheet 16 forming the top of a suction chamber 14, the suction being adjustable by means of a cover-plate 21. As the box blanks are ejected from the folding machine, they strike a deflector plate 72, which is pivoted at 76 to a support bar 64 secured to a back stop plate 33 which is adjustable along fixed bars 28, 29 by means of a screw 36, the speed with which the box blanks strike the plate 72 causing them to be cammed downwardly and causing the plate 72 to pivot upwardly so that the box blanks pass beneath it into contact with the stop plate 33, the plate 72 retaining the box blanks in a folded condition. The belt 25 is driven at a speed slightly less than the speed of ejection of the box blanks from the folding machine so that the box blanks are advanced in overlapping relationship by the belt 25. The box blanks are fed from the belt 25 to a squaring machine such as that described in Specification 832,733.
