690,858. Endless belt conveyers. BAKER PERKINS. Ltd. Aug. 30, 1951. No. 20536/51. Class 78 (i). In an endless band conveyer system having two or more successive conveyer lengths in closely disposed end-to-end relationship, the gap between the upper runs of adjacent conveyer lengths is bridged by resilient means affording support for an article in transfer from one conveyer surface to the next but yieldable to an operator's hand should it become entangled or caught in the oncoming conveyer band. In the embodiment shown in Fig 2, conveyers A, B comprising endless bands built-up of rods 5 have adjacent sprockets 4 supported on bearings 3 on brackets 1 secured to side frame elements 2 and the gap between the conveyers is bridged by a coiled spring 7 supported by hooks 8 on the brackets 1. The bridge member may comprise a rubber strip or tube, a rubber bar of square section, or an arrangement of coiled springs spaced around the periphery of a circle, and may be tapered so as to bridge a tapering gap such as occurs between the end of a rectilinear conveyer length and a curved conveyer length.
