Abstract

1,115,148. Endless conveyers. E. WEBER. 2 Feb., 1967 [4 Feb., 1966], No. 5040/67. Heading B8A. [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for drying printed sheets 7 comprises two endless chain conveyers 4 mounted on an inclined frame to give ascending and descending limbs, each of which chains being guided by two horizontally-spaced sprocketwheels 5 at the top of the limbs to cause the chains to extend between them in a straight line and having sheet carriers 6 fixed thereto which so slope at the top of the chains that the sheets slide in the direction T between the gaps between the carriers on to a conveyer belt 21 driven by rollers 20 from the ascending limb on to a carrier on the descending limb without being inverted. The carriers 6 are mounted on chain link halves 8 having bent-over portions 9 carrying spacer parts 10 with bolts 11 which fix horizontal bars 13 in the form of tubes between the chains and several carriers 6 in the form of metal rods are spacedly secured along the length of each bar. The spacer parts 10 may be of differing lengths and owing to their use the centre-to-centre spacing of the bars is greater when the chains are curved, S, than when in a vertical or horizontal run, s, so as to allow the passage of the sheets therethrough. Fig. 2 shows the conveyers 4 arranged in tandem, the sheets 7 being transferred from one conveyer to the other by a belt 26.
