872,440. Preventing scale formation. GEIGY CO. Ltd. April 30, 1958 [Feb. 8, 1957], No. 4333/57. Class 123(1) Scale formation in heat exchangers for heating aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide and/or sodium carbonate containing more than 1% by weight of the alkali and employed in the Kier boiling of cellulosic textile materials such as cotton is prevented or reduced by adding to the solution from 0À001 to 0À05 % by weight of a sodium salt of a condensation product of naphthalene sulphonic acid and formaldehyde. Specification 7137/13 is referred to.
