869,023. Door counterbalancing devices. WOOLAWAY CONSTRUCTIONS Ltd. Feb. 10, 1959 [Feb. 11, 1958], No. 4423/58. Class 65(1 ). A control unit for an up-and-over sliding door comprises an elongated hollow casing 1 adapted to be secured vertically at the side of the door opening, the casing housing a crank 4 having stub axles 5 journalled in the opposite side walls and a spring or like power accumulating member 7 connected between the crank and the opposite end of the casing, and a strut 10 attached to one of the stub axles and adapted to be pivotally attached to the bottom of the door. During the operation of the door the crank turns through 180 degrees between a door closed position, in which the strut 10 extends vertically downwards and the crank is past the dead-centre position in which the spring is fully-loaded, and a door open position, in which the spring tension is least. The strut is secured to the stub axle 5 where it projects from the casing by means of a plate 5*.
