Abstract

In a spring door closing and check: appliance, comprising a body casting 1 bored to provide in its lower part a fluid containing horizontal cylinder 2 containing a coiled compression spring 3 at one end, and a sliding piston at the other end operated from a vertical spindle 5 through rack-and-pinion, 6 and 7, the flow of fluid from one side of the [front head 4' of the piston to the other is regulated by a horizontal valve rod .8 8 rotatably mounted in a horizontal cylindrical bore and having ports 12, 15 and 16 cooperating with ports 14, 17, and 18 in the body casting. The outer end portion 9 of the valve rod 8 extends outside the casing and can be rotated by means of tommy-bar 19 in slot 20.
