Abstract

1,080,505. Vehicle door hold-open devices. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. July 14, 1966 [Aug. 5, 1965], No. 33539/65. Heading E2F. A vehicle door hold-open device comprises a lever 8 pivotally connected at one end to the door pillar 2 and having two notches 14 and 15 on one side near its free end, a roller 12 rotatably mounted on a door 1 hinged to the pillar 2, a tension spring 18 connected between the free end 16 of the lever 8 and an extension 17 on the roller mounting bracket 13 to keep the roller 12 and lever 8 in contact, so that upon opening the door the roller moves along the notch side 11 of the lever, exerting an open force on the door, and enters first one of the notches to hold the door in a partly open position and then the other notch to hold the door in a fully-open position. The lever 8 is pivotally mounted on the projecting part 10 of a bracket 3 welded to the inside of the pillar 2 and projecting through an aperture 4 in the pillar end wall 5 facing the end wall 6 of the door 1. The roller bracket 13 is bolted to the apertured end wall of the door, inside the door interior. Alternatively, the lever bracket may be secured to the door and the roller bracket may be secured to the door pillar.
