Abstract

868,154. Igniting burners. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. March 7, 1960 [March 11, 1959], No. 8496/59. Class 75(3). [Also in Group XXVII] In a high energy low tension creep type sparking plug, which may be used in gas turbines, means are provided to supply a gas fuel mixture under pressure to the spark gap in such a manner that the effective lengths of the path of the spark is increased (see also Group XXVII). As shown the gas fuel mixture is supplied through a passage 13 to a central bore 14 and then through four inclined passages 15 to four separate longitudinal passages 16. The mixture then passes through slots 17 to enter the region of the spark gap. Preferably the gas employed is air and the fuel is vaporized fuel such as kerosene.
