867,040. Wrapping-machines. LARMUTH, L. J., and LARMUTH, A. Jan. 28, 1959 [Jan. 22, 1958], No. 2142/58. Class 94(1). A machine for spirally wrapping, annular articles such as tyres, has the article driving rollers carried in a cradle tiltable to bring the article into and out of the wrapping position. The cradle 17 is tilted about the axis of the front roller 18, the latter being driven by a motor 21 and chain connected to the rear roller 19. The free end of the cradle is adjustably connected by chains 25 to the vertically moveable shuttle carrying yoke 3. At the end of each wrapping operation, the yoke is raised by motor and chain means 29-33 and the cradle thus tilted to move the article forward for removal. A fresh article is placed on the cradle and the yoke lowered with consequent restoration of the cradle to the working position. The limits of yoke movement are adjustably determined by stops 36 and a switch 37.
