Abstract

A machine for stripping the hides off pigs, cattle etc., has a pair of rollers turning on horizontal axes. They are mounted in a frame which moves up and down on a guide. At least one of the rollers is driven. The carcase to moved to the machine on a transporter. The hide has been opened at the front and loosened at the tail and the carcase is hung by the rear legs with its back to the machine. The loose skin near the tail is fed between the rollers which turn as their frame moves downwards, pulling the hide with them. The machine is low and needs little floor space. The carcase need not be steadied during the stripping. Cross contaminated by chains, hooks, etc. is reduced.
