Abstract

1421757 Skinning meat carcases JOHNSON BROS MFG LTD 21 June 1973 [24 May 1972] 24553/72 Heading A2U A device 36, for holding down the front legs of an animal carcase suspended by its hind legs from a conveyor 16 whilst the hide is gripped at its head end and pulled off by a device 20, comprises a base 47, a ramp 38 mounted on said base, a carriage 39 mounted on said ramp for movement up and down the incline, hydraulic means for moving said carriage up and down said ramp and means 43 on said carriage for detachably securing the front legs of said carcase thereto. In the embodiment shown, the device 36 is mounted on rails so that it may follow the moving carcase. The hide is pulled off by circulating endless chain 22 driven by motor 29. The device 20 is inclined (Fig. 2-not shown) to facilitate removal of the hide whilst the carcase is still moving.
