963,436. Injection moulding machines. DEUTSCHE SOLVAY - WERKE G.m.b.H. April 20, 1961 [April 21, 1960], No. 14227/61. Heading B5A. A process for the manufacture of injection moulded articles on known machines in which one or more screw conveyers are rotated to advance the material and are axially displaceable is characterized in that a work or energy measuring device is provided to measure the energy absorbed during rotation of the screw conveyer or conveyers or given off to the moulding material, this measurement being used to control the working cycle, so that when a defined amount of energy is reached the rotation of the conveyer is automatically or manually stopped and, if desired, the next working cycle is started. During rotation of the screw conveyer it is pressed back by the pressure of material collecting in the front part of its cylinder and is then moved forwards by hydraulic pressure to inject the material into a mould. This pressure may be applied on actuation of a switch by the screw at the end of its rearward movement, and the position of this switch may be adjustable to vary the injection capacity of the machine. Rotation of the screw may be restarted during or shortly after the preceding injection process. German Specification 858,310 is referred to.
