Abstract
865,960. Automatic control of vehicles. HEMUS, A. O. Feb. 4, 1960 [July 28, 1959], No. 25783/59. Class 79(5). A tractor has an element 18 disposed at or towards its rear end in such a manner that it is forced upwardly by engagement with the ground if the tractor rears, transmission means 22 causing the movement to stop the engine. The transmission means may be a Bowden cable connecting the engine fuel control with a lever 6 which turns about a pivot 8 when the element 18 is displaced upwardly against spring pressure in a sleeve 14 by rearward tilting of the tractor, the sleeve being carried by a plate 12 having a slidable connection with a fixed stud 10 to permit the movement. The element 18 may be adjusted telescopically and clamped at 20 so that a shafted foot 19 is about four inches from the ground. Pillar nuts secured to the differential housing 1 may form the pivot 8 and stud 10. Alternatively, the device may be connected to the tractor by a bracket.
