Abstract

The device to stop the engine of a pedestrian controlled cultivator consists of two parts with a connecting cable. The first part is a lever (2) attached to the machine handle. The lever is attached to the cable (8) and has a location (6) for the end of a ratchet device (12) which engages beneath it. The ratchet device pivots about an axis (13) and is moved immediately by a spring when the lever is pressed. The cable tension is then released and the second part of the system stops the engine. The second part can be a fuel cut-off or an electrical switching device, depending on the type of engine used.
