Abstract

A single-pole electrical switch comprises a longitudinally-movable contact 1, a longitudinally-movable guide stem 2 biassed by a spring 9 towards the contact 1, and a contact lever 6 pivoted at one end to a fixed bracket 10 and pivotally connected by a pin-and-slot connection 13, 6a to the guide stem 2. The lever 6 extends obliquely across the path of movement of the contact 1 and presents to it a concave cam surface 6b, along which the contact 1 slides after its initially engagement with the lever 6 on closure of the switch, so that continued travel of the contact 1 will pivot the lever 6 about the bracket 10 and will depress the guide stem 2 against its spring 9. The switch may be used to switch a resistor 4 into a circuit in timed relationship with the closure of a main circuitbreaker or isolator in the circuit. Adjustment of the starting position of the guide stem 2 by means of a nut 7 enables the contact gap and contactengagement timing of the switch to be adjusted. <IMAGE>
