Abstract
865,918. Refractory compositions. MINISTER OF AVIATION. Dec. 2, 1958 [Sept. 23, 1957; April 3, 1958], Nos. 29799/57 and 10760/58. Class 22. [Also in Group XXXVI] A resistive material is made from alumina, tin and antimony oxides and a vitrous diluent having a lower melting point than alumina, by grinding the materials, pressing them and then firing the mixture. One such material comprises tin and antimony oxides 47%, glass 47%, alumina 6%. Examples using other proportions are also given. Resistors are made from the material by mixing the system with 0À5% gum acacia and 5% water and pressing at 5 tons per square inch into flat plates. Silver contacts are painted on to the ends and the mixture fired. A table is given showing resistivities and temperatures co-efficients of various compositions of mixture.
