Abstract

843,904. Heating resistors. THERM-O-LAB CORPORATION. Dec. 10, 1958, No. 39889/58. Class 39(3). [Also in Group XXIII] A heating element comprises conductive metal particles predominantly nickel embedded in equal proportions in glass 10 fired on vitreous enamel 11 previously bonded on a metal base 12. The thermal expansion of the glass 10 is arranged to be the same as the base 12. The metal particles may comprise a large proportion of nickel and a small proportion of iron. The base 12 may be of mild steel or an aluminium containing metal. The glass frit may be composed of oxides of silicon, lead, barium sodium, potassium aluminium, titanium, zirconium, lithium, calcium barium or silicon, boric acid, and sodium carbonate or Feldspar and carbonates of lithium, sodium oxides of lead, silicon, titanium, potassium nitrate and zirconium silicate. Another glass may be composed of oxides of lead, silicon, titanium and lithium and sodium carbonate, zirconium silicate and potassiurri nitrate.
