Abstract

865,715. Suction cleaned nozzles. ELECTROLUX Ltd. May 30, 1957 [May 30, 1956; June 7, 1956; June 11, 1956], No. 17173/57. Class 8(1). A vacuum cleaner nozzle is provided with means to turn a frame 19 having unlike operative surfaces 21, 22 progressively around an axis, and comprises a pedal 41, pivotally supported on a pin 42, engaging two horizontal pins 47 on the actuating member 48. Depression of the pedal 41, against the action of a spring 49, causes the claw-like end portion 52 of the member 48 to engage a notch 53 provided in the curved surface 23 of the frame. The frame is supported in the nozzle by shaped springs 36, and continual pressure on the pedal, assisted by the springs 36, turns the frame until the opposite surface is in the operative position. Notches 53 are provided on both sides of the frame so that another movement, as described above, returns the first surface to the operative position. A suction inlet 29 formed in the frame may have brushes 20 connected to the ends but supported to allow movement between the longitudinal frame walls 27, 28, at its mid length. An additional suction inlet 57 may be provided on the opposite side of the nozzle to the inlet 29, the nozzle being adapted to swivel to present this nozzle to the surface to be cleaned. Further embodiments describe the frame being supported by the turning members when the nozzle is formed by two hinged together parts held together under the action of a spring.
