864,928. Warps, letting off and tensioning. JUTE INDUSTRIES Ltd., and PLENDERLEATH, J. S. April 9, 1958 [Feb. 28, 1957], No. 6742/57. Class 142(2). In a loom having two warp beams 11 disposed end-to-end, the warp from each beam passes under a separate guide bar 17 carried by a shaft 38; the two shafts are interconnected by linkage 23 in such a way that raising of one bar 17 by an increase in the tension of its warp depresses the other bar 17, thereby tending to equalise the tensions of the two warps. The guide bars also act on the brakes 12 of the beams to further equalise the tensions; one end of each brake band is loaded by a spring resting against an arm 33 of a lever 31 pivoted at 32, the upper ends of the two levers 31 being operated by the linkage 23. The brake bands have their other ends 13 anchored to levers 14, one at each side of the loom, pivoted at 32 and adjustable by handwheels 15. It is stated that the guide bars 17 may be rotatable and may each drive a yardage indicator; and that a stop motion may be operated by the guide bars in unbalanced conditions of warp tension.
