Abstract
108,928. Lawton, A., (Brocklehurst, P.). Sept. 25, 1916. Letting-off warps. - In apparatus for applying drag to a loom warp beam &c., a plate, roller, &c. is adapted to bear against the warp on the beam and is mounted on a rod pivoted to one or more levers, to which are attached springs for exerting tension on the devices bearing on the ruffles of the beam. As shown, a smooth plate a bearing on the warp on the beam c is pivoted or fixed to a rod d passing through a two-part guide e and provided with a block l, in which a pivot pin n is secured by a set-screw m. Slots in levers o, pivoted at p, are engaged by the ends of the pin n, and the screwed ends v of springs x are adjustably secured by nuts w to blocks bolted to the levers, the other ends of the springs being connected by chains y to chains &c. z surrounding the ruffles 1 of the beam. As the warp is unwound, the plate a rises, as shown in dotted lines, and the tension of the springs is decreased. By separating the parts of the guide e, the rod d may be moved to free the plate a from the warp and relieve the tension of the springs to enable the beam to be turned back.
