Abstract

864,700. Winding yarns. JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd. Sept. 18, 1958 [Sept. 18, 1957], No. 29386/57. Addition to 864,648. Class 120(2). The travelling roll winding machine of the parent Specification is modified in that the bobbin replenishing station is disposed beyond the roll doffing station in the direction of travel of the winding units so that there will be no yarn connection between the roll and the supply package when the winding unit approaches the roll doffing station. In the arrangement shown each winding unit passes successively through a bobbin doffing station where the exhausted supply bobbin is removed from peg 22; a roll doffing station where the roll 41 is removed if it has been completed; a bobbin replenishing station where a new supply bobbin 45 is supplied from magazine 44 and a centre supplying station where a new centre 40 is supplied if the roll 41 has been previously doffed. The bobbin doffing station can alternatively be positioned between the roll doffing station and the bobbin replenishing station as indicated in dotted lines.
