Abstract
864,506. Doors and windows. CLIVE INVESTMENTS PTY Ltd. March 18, 1959 [March 18, 1958], No. 9390/59. Class 20(3) A door or window or other panel frame capable of being dismantled comprises four basic section members, viz. top 10, bottom 11 and side stiles 12, 13, each having, as respectively shown in Figs. 2, 3, 4 and 7 at least one channel with inwardly directed flanges 24 dividing the channel into an outer compartment 20, 23, 33 and an inner compartment 19, 25, 32 to receive at each end of the members one leg 39, 40 of an angle connector, Fig. 9. At least one leg of one connector is a relatively loose fit in its compartment to be detachably retained therein e.g. by clamping screws passing through holes 41 in the leg and screwed against the channel base, e.g. 21. The other connector leg is a tight fit in its compartment. The outer compartments 20, 33 of the top rail 10 and side stiles 12, 13 receive edge portions of the panel. The bottom rail 11, Fig. 3, has an upper channel 22 for receiving the bottom edge portion of the panel and the outer compartment 23 of the lower channel receiving suitably spaced clamped housings for guide wheels retained on a lower rail of the window or door frame by the sides 30 of the member 11. As a sliding sash a web 18 on the top rail member 10, Fig. 2, is received in a guide channel. A similar web 35, Fig. 7, on the stile 13 is apertured to receive a locking pin 35A mounted in a framed upright 36 when the sash is in one extreme position and flanges 34 engage with a latch device when the sash is in another extreme position. A felt proofing strip 38, Fig. 8, engages an adjacent sash frame.
