Abstract
863,847. Valves. MERRILL, I. N., and MERRILL PUMPS Ltd. June 18, 1957 [June 18, 1956], No. 18744/56. Addition to 831,309. Class 135. A valve comprising a rotor R mounted for rotation in a casing B having a substantially cylindrical cavity 11 is encased in a flexible tube D which frictionally engages the rotor and seats on surfaces 15, 16 to close the valve. During the completion of sealing engagement between the flexible tube and the seats slight relative movement takes place between the tube and the rotor so that on every closure a different part of the tube is engaged by the seats to ensure even wear of the tube. The single tube may be replaced by two tubes one inside the other with the inner tube more resilient.
