Abstract

In the flap type non-return valve, the flap (2) is pivoted about a lateral axis (3) contained within the mounting ring (1), this ring normally being clamped between the flanged ends of pipes. By fitting a cam (5) to the shaft (3) an indication of valve position may be made via a shaft (6) bearing on the cam and passing through the ring wall. In addition, the shaft (6) may be connected to hydraulic dampers or valve control mechanisms and in particular, if the cam form is reversed, a simple damper will prevent wear on the valve seat due to unnecessarily rapid closing. The arrangement can be made to accept very high internal pressures.
