Abstract

The valve body (1) is cylindrical with equal male threads on each end and an internal shoulder roughly at its midpoint. The internal shoulder carries a cylindrical valve seat (20) with, attached to it, a perforated cylindrical cage (22) with a spherical end in which is located the valve ball (21). When the fluid presses the ball against the seat the flow is stopped but if the fluid flows in the inverse direction the ball is held away from the seal and free flow is permitted. Fitments including valves that can lock the ball in the open or shut position, may be assembled to the body.
