Abstract

862,111. Suspender fastenings. HAWIE MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 15, 1958, No. 29544/58. Class 44. A suspender for stockings or the like adapted to be connected to a supporting tab 26 comprises a rigid base member 10, having a button-receiving loop 11 at one end and a tab-receiving loop 12 at the other end, and a latch 16. The latter is provided with a transverse pivot bar 21 at its lower end and is pivotally mounted on the rolled-over upper end of a clip 18 secured to the base 10, intermediate the loops 11, 12, and it is formed with a fingerpiece 22 and also a slot 17 to co-operate with the tab-engaging portion 15 of the loop 12 to clamp the supporting tab 26 thereto. The base 10 is preferably bent from heavy wire 14 with the ends 14a, 14b disposed in a sleeve to form the tab-engaging portion 15, and the clip 18 may have tangs 19 adapted to be crimped around the wire 14, as shown, and also a transverse slot 18b through which an anchor 23 on the button tab may be passed into interlocked relation.
