A. DANIEL KEY RETAINER Filed Aug. 14, 1922 ATTORNEY INVENTOR Patented Feb. 27, 1923, v
UNITED STATES ALVIN DANIEL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.,
KEY RETAINER.
Application filed August 14, 1922.
To all whom it may cone-mm:
Be it known that I, ALVIN DANIEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Key Re tainers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to devices for attaching keys and like articles to garments and has as its main object to provide a posi tive and permanently applied support having means for directly engaging either single keys or key rings in a secure manner.
A further purpose is to produce a support of the character indicated capable of being adjusted to suit the articles which are attached to it.
Another aim is in the provision of an in expensive and practical device that is easily applied to a garment where most convenient. These objects are attained by the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming part of this disclosure, and inwhich:
Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the manner of attaching the support to a garment.
Figure 2 is a front elevational'view of the device in detail.
Figure 3 is an edge view of the same.
Figure 4: is a front view showing a modification in construction.
Figure 5 is an edge View of the same.
Figure 6 is a perspective view of the blank from which the main element of the support is formed.
In the simpler form of the device, as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, the numeral.
10 designates a thin metallic bar having rounded ends and containing a plurality of small perforations 11 through which stitches may be passed in securing the device in position, as best shown in Figure 1.
Depending integrally from the central portion of the lower edge of the bar 10 is a strap-like member 12, curved to produce Serial No. 581,581.
an open loop 13 and then turned upward into a tongue 14 its rounded end 15 being adjacent the front of the bar 10.
Fixed in the upperpart of the element 11 at its front, is a snap fastener element 15 and carried by the tongue 14 is a mating element 16, thus providing means for separating the tongue to admit the ring of a key 17 or the like as shown in Figure 1.
In the modification shown in Figures 4, 5 and 6, a similar plate 10 is provided with perforations 11 and having a short depending strap element 18 terminating in a bevelled end 19 formed with a forwardly proj ecting tang 20.
A sliding member 21, provided with inturned clasp members 22 adapted to grasp the element 18, is formed with rectangular perforations 23 adapted to receive the tang and thus adjustably but firmly engage the supporting element at different height.
Said sliding element is formed with a loop 23 and a resilient tongue 24; carrying a snap fastener member 25 engageable with the mating member 26 secured to the upper front portion of the slide 21, thus maintaining an entered object in the manner before described.
From the foregoing it will be seen that a neat, strong and practical device has been disclosed fully capable of answering its purposes in an effective manner.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A key support comprising a bar having stitch receiving perforations, a strap-like element depending therefrom, a tang formed at the bottom of said element, said tang extending angularly outward to the front, a slide having perforations to receive said tang, arms on said slide embracing said strap-like element, and a loop formed with said slide.
In witness whereof I have affixed my signature.
ALVIN DANIEL.
